Gravel Cat is an alley cat / treasure hunt style event, where you will be given a manifest with the (What3Words) locations of several checkpoints, which you must locate and visit, taking a selfie with your bike at each checkpoint and saving on your Strava account. 

At 2:30pm all riders will be given an envelope with 3 checkpoints that you must visit. You can visit them in any order you like, after reaching the 3rd checkpoint you will need to ride back to The Cowshed Café, where you will be given a further 3 checkpoints,

(6 checkpoints in total).

The first rider back having completed all checkpoints will be declared the winner. You can ride to win or you can ride with your friends and have fun.

Pulled pork buns and beers back at The Cowshed Café afterwards!

Information for riders:

Arrive at the Cowshed Cafe for 2pm, event start is at 2:30pm prompt.

Event will be a le-mans style start where you collect your manifest and run to collect your bike before heading off to find the checkpoints.

You should expect to do around 2-3 hours of riding.

Please note there is limited parking on site, once full there is a large verge outside that can be used. If you plan on driving to the start and are able to car share, please do so. 

The farm entrance is to be kept clear at all times.  

Entry fee includes:

Food, which will be served between 4:30pm and 6pm 

Cash prize pot (£5 per rider, the more entrants, the bigger the prize pot)

Prizes for 1st, 2nd 3rd.

The cafe will remain open between 2pm and 7pm.

What you will need:

  • A working pedal cycle suitable for off-road and on-road cycling.
  • A Strava account.
  • A smartphone with camera.
  • Garmin/Wahoo/Cycle computer (or smartphone) to log your ride on Strava.

Rules:

  • Checkpoints can be done in any order, unless specified in the manifest.
  • All checkpoints must be completed in order to place in the competition.
  • Only cycling/walking is allowed, no other modes of transport.
  • You can (and will need to) ride on a mixture of off-road and on-road routes.
  • You must obey The Highway Code, The Country Code and respect public byways and other users (e.g. no riding on footpaths).
  • Checkpoints will only be revealed in the participants’ manifest.
  • At each checkpoint, you must take a selfie clearly showing you present at the checkpoint feature.
  • On Strava: You must join The Cowshed Cafe Strava club, log the ride and make it public.
  • Electrically assisted bikes are allowed for participation only, but riders will not be placed in the prize competition.
